It does lend a red color but the texture reminds me of talc or chalk and rubs off too easy. dyes my wool roving well though. =)

If you like a retro, pin-up kind of red for your lipstick you won't be able to do it without this! There's a reason it's been in use forever and hasn't been replaced by a vegan alternative.

I had been having quite a lot of trouble finding just the right red lipstick for myself. I finally decided to make my own, and bought the TKB Lipstick Base along with a few of the red pigments. After experimenting with about 8 different combinations, just using the straight carmine powder in a high concentration won hands down. The color is just spectacular--it comes out as a bold, deep, pure red that does indeed look very pin-up like. I just love it.

I can't believe there aren't many reviews on this! It is simply the reddest red you will ever find. Unfortunately it is not vegan, but if you (or your customers) can get over that it is made out of cochineal bugs then you are in for a treat! There are so many uses for this fire engine red, and it can be mixed with other oxides to get even more great colors (try with omega blue to get a very true purple!). If it wasn't so expensive I would buy it by the pound :)

This is my FAVORITE pigments to use in lipsticks. It creates that classic-red hue that you just can't get with any combination of iron oxides alone. A must have if you are aiming for a true red lip color. Also gives "warmth" to purple eyeshadows.

Plays very well with nail polish, and creates the truest, red-red that you can find! A little makes a lovely jelly base for glitters, a bit more for a great red creme.

This is a stunning red, and I am quite pleased with this for use in my soaps and Lip products. However, it is clumpy and doesn't mix into Nail Polish well at all. At least not in my base it doesn't... Sad because I LOVE THIS RED!! But I'm not sure what else to do to it to make it work. I guess I'm going back to my Original Hot Mama! ;)

I don't own it, but I will soon ;) I have a few uses for this beauty!

This red works beautiful in nail polish. It blended so well. But I smoosh all my powder pigments and turn them into liquid color base. So I had no trouble at all mixing this Beauty.
